I was briefed by the creative department at MKG in LA (sister company to Pineapple) to design all marketing collateral for a premiere event with Amazon Studios surrounding a new show called Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The show is essentially about a housewife in the 1950/60s who pursues her dream of stand-up comedy while living in NYC.
The overall look & feel for the project was inspired by a sophisticated 1950's gala atmosphere that Midge (lead) would've attended in her day. I began with a mood board that drew from pastel swatches and muted tones, vintage floral textures, combined with sophisticated lettering and text.
The Save the Date notice was then created and designed to fit an adult crowd. The client wanted a clean embellished look with nice border/accents/fonts and treatment.
From there I drew further inspiration from the 50's retro appeal to create the event invites, menus, signage, and vinyl record cases. The inspo was a rainbow of eye-popping pastels & design that renders long and low and angles. Also incorporating the “Boomerang” pattern, which were all used on wallpaper, tablecloths, curtains and furniture fabrics.
